2005 was a challenging year for us. Several of our close friends passed away,
all in their prime of life and all from degenerative diseases. When Ray's hiking
buddy, who seemed in perfect health, died on the trail from a heart attack, we
were shocked and became concerned about our own health. Ray was especially affected
by his friends' deaths. So, he did the sensible thing and went in for a complete
physical including a stress test for his heart.
Fortunately and unfortunately, we discovered he has a heart condition and if
left untreated, he too could have met with a similar fate as his friend. However,
with medication, nutritious diet, some weight loss, and continued exercises, his

Ray and I are avid readers and and prefer natural health alternatives whenever
possible. In fact, Ray has recently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Holistic Nutrition.
I knew a friend involved in USANA and suggested we talk to her. After hearing
about the products and the business, we decided to sign up and try as many of
the products as we could.
We must admit we started out investigating USANA with skepticism. As we
searched the web for the unsavory details, we found none. We tried the vitamins
first. We agree with the research results from Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements (
Lyle McWilliam, 2003) that the vitamins are outstanding. Both of us feel better than we have for a
few years, we have more energy and a general feeling of well-being. The cold/flu,
which has been running rampant in our area, managed to stay clear of our household,
a fact we whole-heartedly attribute to USANA vitamins.
The results of our vitamin experiment led us to try more USANA products.
We both use the Sense products, yes, we both do. I insisted that we both use
them so that we could compare the results. Ray’s contribution is that his skin
feels soft and clean. His lack of detailed commentary is no reflection on the
products but due to Ray’s inexperience in this arena. I, however, noticed sensations
of my skin firming with the very first use. In just a couple of weeks, my skin
not only looked smoother and felt softer but also had a healthy glow. So much
so that I no longer wear foundation, except on very special occasions. (Foundation
was something I would NEVER leave the house without due to my acne scars and uneven
skin tones.) I even got compliments of how “great” I looked, which is music to
a woman’s ears who is wearing only minimal eye makeup and lipstick!
Macro-nutritionals are another one of USANA products we use. We started
the Reset program and, again, experienced great success. By the tenth day, we
lost a combined 17 lbs without being hungry. We followed the simple directions
and are now continuing toward our goal of leaner, healthier bodies. It is really
encouraging and exciting to be able to eat healthy, delicious meals while rewarded
with success on a regular basis. USANA really does make it easier for us to make
the right choices in what we eat and how we eat.
The business model looks solid, and there is incredible income potential.
It will take time and effort to develop a USANA business, but the tools are available
and plentiful. The investment to start this business is minimal and the effort
to put together a marketing plan is minor when contrasted to the enormous amount
of work we did for our other business.
We both give and get recommendations for everything in life. We have “gone
to school” on friends and in-laws for everything from web-based movie rentals
to digital cameras learning from their experiences. It is time to return the
favor. The USANA products made us feel better physically which has improved our
emotional and spiritual health already. We cannot think of a more wonderful gift
to share with our family, friends and fellow humans than good health and good
